In partnership with the Indian charity Pingalwara, we have developed a long term sustained communication project, for the development of social and cognitive skills, for the children with special needs and disabilities residents at the charity. In a society where such children are deemed a low caste of humanity and a waste of space, they have been abandoned and at times left for dead. With the progressive rate of advancement in education and approaches here in the UK, we wish to transfer knowledge, expertise and practical ways to better the lives of the children who currently have non existent methods and interventions and lack basic opportunities
So many people question: Where do their funds go? Who spends what? How does it get spent? How do they know?
Well, our actions can only speak for us, only established since January 2010 family and friends have gathered to raise funds for an 8 seater van to take the special needs children to see the beautiful world outside their four walls. This van will give volunteers the opportunity to travel locally with the children and the freedom to organise local outings.
We will be purchasing a hydro therapy tub and envisage that this will lead to a state of the art hydro therapy pool with the elements of colour and light. However, introducing such concepts subtlety is vital, as rapid intervention can at times have a detrimental affect on the children.
Special schools in the UK have an interactive white board in each classroom. This clearly shows the benefits, for children’s learning, of having such technologies within a school. We will be introducing this concept and equipment and provide training to the staff. This will be an ongoing effort, starting with teachers from a special school coming in April 2010.
